- You are having reconstructive knee surgery soon
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 35
- You are not using growth hormone or anabolic steroids now or in the past
- You have not used corticosteroids (steroid medicine) in the last 3 months
- You are not taking medicines known to affect muscle or tendon healing
- You have not joined a study that used deuterated water before
