Who can take part

  • You are having reconstructive knee surgery soon
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 35
  • You are not using growth hormone or anabolic steroids now or in the past
  • You have not used corticosteroids (steroid medicine) in the last 3 months
  • You are not taking medicines known to affect muscle or tendon healing
  • You have not joined a study that used deuterated water before
