Testing pentoxifylline and vitamin E for jaw bone damage

Medication-related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ)

This trial tests a combination of medicines (pentoxifylline and tocopherol, a form of vitamin E) to treat damage to the jaw bone caused by bone-strengthening drugs. If you have Stage 2 MRONJ and meet other criteria, this treatment may help heal the bone.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have taken or are taking a type of bone medication (bisphosphonate or denosumab).
  • Your jaw has an exposed area of bone with signs of infection (this is called Stage 2 MRONJ).
  • You have not had radiation to your head or neck, or cancer that spread to your jaw.
  • You are not taking blood thinners, certain other medicines, or have bleeding problems.
