Who can take part

  • You must be scheduled for elective open kidney surgery (nephrectomy).
  • Your overall health status should be in ASA 1 to ASA 3.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be under 35.
  • You should not have an infection on the side where the injection would be placed.
  • You should not have a bleeding/clotting problem (a coagulation disorder).
