Who can take part

  • You need a pacemaker soon because a doctor recommends it
  • You are an adult (18 years or older)
  • Your heart pumping strength is above 35% (left ventricular ejection fraction)
  • Your rhythm problem is one of the specific types that usually needs ongoing heart pacing (examples: AV block patterns or slow atrial fibrillation)
  • You are not expected to need only occasional ventricular pacing (not isolated sick sinus syndrome)
  • You are not pregnant, can consent, and your life expectancy is more than 1 year
