Test of a new breathing interface for COPD flare-ups

Who can take part

  • You currently have a COPD flare-up with worsening breathing symptoms beyond your usual day-to-day changes, needing medication changes.
  • You have a mild-to-moderate acute breathing problem related to too much carbon dioxide (as shown on blood tests).
  • This is not your usual long-term (chronic) breathing failure worsening—your team must consider it a new, acute event.
  • You do not have urgent signs that you need a breathing tube right away (for example, very low consciousness, arrest, or inability to protect your airway).
  • You do not have major issues that prevent safe use of the device, like severe facial injury/burns or a fixed blockage in the upper airway.
