Who can take part
- Be age 20 or older and have angina and/or test evidence of heart muscle not getting enough blood
- Have type 2 diabetes (often diagnosed by needing diabetes medicines like insulin or pills, or by high blood sugar/HbA1c)
- Have significant narrowing in three main heart vessels (not the left main artery) and be a candidate for either stents or bypass
- Be able to follow the study schedule and sign consent (you or your guardian)
- Be able to take aspirin and a second anti-platelet medicine (like clopidogrel, ticagrelor, or prasugrel) for at least 6 months
- Not have certain heart emergencies or conditions, such as a very recent heart attack, cardiogenic shock, or very weak heart pumping (ejection fraction under 30%)
