Who can take part

  • You currently meet diagnostic criteria for opioid use disorder (OUD)
  • You agree to have supervised withdrawal (stopping opioids with close monitoring)
  • You agree to switch to an approved treatment plan after withdrawal, such as medication for opioid use disorder or behavioral therapy
  • You are not pregnant and you are not breastfeeding
  • You don’t have certain brain or nerve conditions that could make stimulation unsafe (like a specific history of meningitis, major head injury, or a prior vagus nerve implant/pacemaker)
  • You are not currently taking opioid-use medications that conflict with the study plan (like methadone, naltrexone, or Suboxone)
