Who can take part
- Ages 19–80, and you can sign informed consent
- You have non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer that is stage IIIB–IV
- Your tumor tests must show EGFR and ALK are both negative (and you can’t be randomized before those results are on record)
- You must have tumor tissue available from your diagnosis (not from certain needle/fluid samples)
- You have not had chemotherapy for advanced/metastatic lung cancer before (certain earlier chemo is allowed if finished 12+ months ago)
- Your scans show measurable tumors, your overall health score is 0–1, and blood/organ tests are within required ranges
