Who can take part

  • You are age 18 to 65, and your daily activity level is good (ECOG 0–1).
  • Your breast cancer is HER2-positive, confirmed by pathology testing (tumor shows HER2 3+ on staining or is HER2-positive on FISH testing).
  • Your cancer is not spread to distant organs (no stage IV/metastatic breast cancer).
  • Your tumor is at an operable stage: T2 to T4d, or T1c with cancer in the underarm lymph node (axillary LN+).
  • You have test results that show you can safely take chemotherapy (blood counts, liver, kidneys meet study cutoffs).
  • Your heart ultrasound shows good pumping function (LVEF at least 55%), and you do not have certain serious heart problems.
