Ultrasound treatment to lower blood pressure after kidney transplant

This trial tests whether ultrasound “renal denervation” can safely and effectively lower blood pressure in people whose hypertension is not well controlled after a kidney transplant. If you qualify, the study may help you see whether this procedure reduces office and 24-hour blood pressure readings without harming your transplanted kidney.

Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You had a kidney transplant at least 12 months ago, and your anti-rejection medicines have been stable
  • Your kidney function is good enough for the study (eGFR at least 40)
  • Your blood pressure stays high even with treatment (office systolic ≥140 and 24-hour average ≥130)
  • You take at least two blood pressure medicines of different types, including a water pill (or you cannot tolerate 3 types), and your plan won’t change in the next 3 months
  • You can share written informed consent and are willing to be screened with the required scans/tests
