Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a first (primary) total knee replacement using a MAKO robotic arm
  • Your knee problem is causing pain and disability from arthritis type disease (like osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis), and it involves one or more knee areas
  • Your knee bending/alignment issue is mild: the deformity is less than 15° (varus, valgus, or flexion) and you do not have a major contracture (less than 15°)
  • You are 18 to 70 years old and otherwise healthy enough for surgery (ASA I or II) with BMI 35 or less
  • Your PCL ligament is completely intact at the time of surgery, and you have no current or hidden infection near the knee
  • You can understand the study, agree to consent, and speak and write Dutch
