Who can take part
- You’re age 35 or older
- You’re still premenopausal and your periods are regular (or you’re using hormone methods that stop periods, with an ovary still intact if you had a hysterectomy)
- You’re not planning pregnancy for the next year, and you must use effective birth control during the study and for 8 weeks after (because these medicines could harm a fetus)
- You must have a higher-than-average breast cancer risk based on specific factors (family history, prior biopsy findings, dense breasts, genetic risk, prior radiation, or a calculated risk score)
- You must have at least one breast area that can be safely sampled with a fine-needle biopsy, and you must be able to attend study visits and tests
- Your recent blood and liver-kidney lab results must be within set limits
