Who can take part

  • Be age 16 to 50 years old
  • Have newly diagnosed ALL (not previously treated), with enough leukemia cells in blood or bone marrow (at least 20%)
  • Your ALL should be Philadelphia-chromosome negative (unless you had limited pre-treatment like hydroxyurea, steroid tablets/infusions, or medicines given into the spinal fluid)
  • You cannot have prior intravenous (vein) chemotherapy, though limited medicines before diagnosis may be allowed
  • You must not have major health limits such as severe heart failure, very high liver enzymes or bilirubin, or significantly reduced kidney function
