Who can take part

  • Be 30 to 65 years old
  • Live in Puerto Rico now, and have lived there for at least the past year (and plan to stay for the next 3 years)
  • Answer study questions on your own (no help from someone else)
  • Have a working cell phone that can receive texts and agree to receive daily texts from the study
  • Have at least one health issue: higher BMI, higher waist size, high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, or high cholesterol/lipids
  • Not be pregnant and not have diabetes that requires medication (type 1 or type 2 diabetes)
