Who can take part

  • Your heart pumping strength is reduced (left ventricular ejection fraction under 55%)
  • Your mitral valve leak is more than mild (mitral regurgitation fraction over 20% or moderate-or-greater by ultrasound with clear images)
  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You do not have more than mild problems with the aortic valve (aortic regurgitation or stenosis)
  • You have not had mitral valve surgery or other mitral valve procedures before
  • You have not had a heart inflammation/infection called acute myocarditis, and no recent heart attack (within 8 weeks)
