This trial studies denosumab to reduce pain and active bone disease in adults with fibrous dysplasia / McCune-Albright syndrome. You may be eligible if your FD/MAS is causing persistent pain and has signs of active bone turnover, despite adequate pain treatment.

Who can take part

  • You’re age 18 or older and have a confirmed diagnosis of fibrous dysplasia (FD) or McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS)
  • Your pain is coming from an FD area and is not responding to adequate pain treatment, and it’s not mainly from a mechanical problem like an impending fracture
  • Your FD pain is moderate to severe (VAS pain score 4 or higher, based on average or worst pain)
  • Your doctor has evidence your FD is “actively active,” such as blood bone-turnover tests being high or scans showing increased activity in at least one lesion
  • Your calcium, parathyroid hormone, and vitamin D levels are in the normal range (vitamin D supplements are allowed); hypophosphatemia must be treated (more than 0.7 on two separate tests)
  • Your dental health is good (a dental check within the last 12 months)
