Who can take part

  • You have had a bone marrow or stem cell transplant (autologous or allogeneic).
  • You have been diagnosed with SOS (sinusoidal obstruction syndrome), also called VOD (veno-occlusive disease), along with kidney or lung problems.
  • You have been treated with the standard dose of defibrotide (a drug to treat SOS) but are not improving, or are getting worse.
  • You are 1 month to 75 years old.
  • You are not on blood-thinning medications (except for minor uses like keeping IV lines open).
  • You do not have any active bleeding (grade 2 or worse) and have not had a severe allergic reaction to defibrotide.
