Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You have been hospitalized after a brain injury (from an accident or stroke).
  • Your level of consciousness is between 1 and 5 on a standard recovery scale.
  • You can breathe on your own for at least part of the day.
  • You do not need a breathing machine for more than 12 hours a day.
  • If you had a tracheostomy tube, the wound must be fully healed after it was removed.
