Who can take part

  • You have a type of nasopharyngeal cancer called non-keratinizing (WHO type II or III).
  • Your cancer is stage I to IVa, meaning it has not spread to distant parts of the body.
  • The tumor in your nasopharynx is only on one side and does not cross the midline (confirmed by scope and MRI).
  • Your doctor plans to give you curative radiation (IMRT), possibly with chemotherapy depending on your stage.
  • You have not had previous cancer treatment (except for certain minor cancers).
  • You are 18 to 70 years old and your general health and organ function are good (Karnofsky score 70 or above).
