Who can take part
- You must be between 18 and 65 years old.
- You need a diagnosis of familial partial lipodystrophy (FPL), with fat loss mainly in your buttocks and thighs.
- Your weight must be stable (within a few pounds) for the past 3 months.
- You must have enough belly and thigh fat for a small biopsy and be willing to temporarily stop certain medications (like blood thinners or aspirin) before the biopsy.
- You cannot have poorly controlled diabetes or high triglycerides (over 1000 mg/dL), and must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You cannot have HIV, hepatitis B or C, or be on a very restrictive diet like keto or paleo.
