SGLT2 Inhibitors for Pre-Heart Failure with Hypertension

This study tests whether a medication called empagliflozin (a diabetes drug) can improve heart function in older adults with high blood pressure and obesity who are at risk for heart failure but do not have it yet. You would take the pill daily and have heart ultrasounds to check your heart's health.

This study tests whether a medication called an SGLT2 inhibitor (a type of diabetes drug) can improve the function of the upper left heart chamber in people who have paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, and abnormal blood sugar levels. If you qualify, the trial may help your heart work better and reduce your risk of stroke.

This trial tests whether combining two medicines (finerenone and empagliflozin) can help people who are overweight or have obesity and have high blood pressure that is not well controlled. It aims to see if the combination works better than placebo.

This Phase 3 trial tests whether starting an SGLT2 inhibitor early in the hospital can improve outcomes for people at high risk after acute (sudden) heart failure. If you qualify, you would be randomized to receive the study medicine or standard care, started within 12 hours of admission.

It focuses on people who still have signs of “stiff” or high filling pressure in the heart despite a normal-ish ejection fraction.
