Who can take part
- You are between 20 and 85 years old
- You are scheduled for open-chest heart surgery through a cut in the middle of your chest
- Your surgery is for bypass, valve repair/replacement, or ascending aortic aneurysm repair
- You have a normal heart rhythm at your doctor visit and on a recent EKG
- You are not currently taking amiodarone for atrial fibrillation or other heart rhythm problems
- You do not have end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis
