- Having TAVR surgery for a severely narrowed aortic valve
- Normal heart rhythm confirmed by a 24-hour heart monitor before surgery
- Extra or irregular heartbeats detected on a heart monitor within 24 hours after TAVR
- No history of atrial fibrillation (a common type of irregular heartbeat) before surgery
- Not currently taking heart rhythm medications like beta-blockers or amiodarone
- Able to take amiodarone or metoprolol without medical contraindications
