Who can take part

  • You must have a body mass index (BMI) over 35.
  • You must be scheduled for bariatric (weight-loss) surgery based on international guidelines.
  • You cannot have an active viral liver infection, like hepatitis B or C.
  • You cannot have an alcohol or drug addiction.
  • You must be able to understand and agree to the study on your own.
