Who can take part
- You’re age 16 to 65, any sex.
- You have obesity (based on Asian body-weight standards) and are planning your first bariatric surgery at the study hospital.
- Your liver fat problem is confirmed before surgery by imaging (ultrasound or MRI fat measurements) or by liver tissue taken during surgery.
- For the “NASH” part: you have biopsy-proven NASH with early scarring (at least stage F1 fibrosis).
- You have not had bariatric surgery before.
- You can understand the study and are willing to sign consent.
