Who can take part

  • You are an adult admitted to the ICU for sudden low oxygen levels (with a specific blood test result).
  • You have been on high-flow oxygen therapy for at least 24 hours, with the flow at 50 liters per minute or more and oxygen concentration at 50% or higher.
  • Your oxygen levels and breathing rate must be stable or improving in the last 6 hours before joining.
  • You had a blood gas test (a blood draw from an artery) while on high-flow oxygen therapy within the last 24 hours.
  • You are covered by social security and you or your family member can sign a consent form.
  • You do not have severe COPD, a history of lung scarring, or heart-related fluid in the lungs as the main cause of your breathing problem.
