Guided bone growth to prevent hip problems in children with cerebral palsy

Who can take part

  • Your child has spastic cerebral palsy (tight muscles in one or more limbs).
  • Your child is between 2 and 8 years old.
  • Your child uses a wheelchair or has very limited walking ability (GMFCS level IV or V).
  • Your child has at least one hip that can only bend inward to 40 degrees or less when lying on their back.
  • X-rays show the hip ball has moved 30% to 50% out of the socket and the thigh bone angle is more than 145 degrees.
  • Your child has not had previous hip surgery on that side and is healthy enough for surgery.
