Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older with a confirmed diagnosis of small cell lung cancer.
  • Your cancer must have come back after at least 4 cycles of first-line chemotherapy with etoposide and platinum, with the relapse happening between 30 days and 6 months after your last treatment.
  • You need to have at least one tumor that can be measured on scans (like a CT or MRI).
  • You must be in generally good health, with an ECOG performance status of 0 or 1, and expected to live at least 3 more months.
  • Your liver and kidney function, blood counts, and other organ systems must be within certain limits as determined by blood tests.
  • You cannot have had prior treatment with irinotecan, topotecan, or similar drugs, and you must not have active infections, severe heart or lung disease, or other uncontrolled medical conditions.
