Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are having surgery to remove part of your colon (right, left, or total) or rectum (may or may not include a colostomy bag), for either benign or cancerous reasons
  • Your surgery will be done with small incisions (laparoscopic or robotic), not open surgery
  • Your surgery will use a special low-pressure gas system called AirSeal
  • You are covered by the Medicare health system
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or in an emergency situation
