Who can take part

  • You have advanced non-small cell lung cancer (stage IIIB or IV) with an EGFR mutation (exon 19 deletion or L858R).
  • You have smoked at least 100 cigarettes in your life (even if you quit).
  • You can get around and care for yourself (ECOG score 0 or 1).
  • Your blood counts, liver, and kidney functions are adequate as tested.
  • You have not had previous chemotherapy or targeted therapy for advanced lung cancer (except certain past treatments finished 6 months ago).
  • You are not pregnant, can avoid pregnancy for 6 months after treatment, and do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or bleeding problems.
