- You are a woman aged 18 to 74.
- You are having heart bypass surgery for the first time on three blocked heart arteries.
- Your heart pumps at least 35% of blood out each beat (left ventricular ejection fraction over 35%).
- The blocked arteries that will be treated are at least 1.5 mm wide and at least 70% blocked.
- You do not have poorly controlled diabetes (HbA1c more than 8%), severe kidney disease, or need emergency surgery.
