Who can take part

  • You need brain surgery that requires a drain to remove excess fluid from around the brain.
  • You are between 22 and 65 years old.
  • If you have a traumatic brain injury, your Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score must be 7 or higher and both pupils must react to light.
  • The surgery area must be clean (no active infection or bleeding at the site).
  • You cannot have severe bleeding risk, active substance abuse, or be pregnant or breastfeeding.
