Who can take part

  • You must have septic shock that started less than a day ago
  • You need to be on a breathing machine with very low oxygen levels (PaO2/FiO2 under 150)
  • A bacterial infection must be confirmed
  • Your blood levels of procalcitonin must be above 5 and interleukin-6 above 100
  • You must not be allergic to hops or anything made from hops
  • Your blood pressure must be unstable, requiring IV medications to support it
