Who can take part

  • You must be between 65 and 95 years old.
  • You must have a family history of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in a parent, sibling, or child.
  • You must have high cholesterol or diabetes that is well-managed.
  • You cannot be allergic to goji berries or ingredients in the fiber wafers (wheat, corn, oats, soy, orange flavor, xylitol, annatto, pectin).
  • You cannot be taking blood thinners (like warfarin) or have plans to take them during the study.
  • You cannot take multivitamins or supplements that contain lutein or zeaxanthin unless you stop them for at least 6 months before enrolling.
