Who can take part

  • 18 years or older
  • Diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease that causes vision loss
  • Your better eye sees only a small central area (20 degrees or less of vision)
  • Your worse eye has vision between 6/18 and 6/120 on a standard eye chart
  • A test called electroretinogram shows little or no electrical activity in your worse eye
  • You do not have blood-borne infections (like HIV, hepatitis B/C, or HTLV) or other serious health problems such as bleeding disorders or autoimmune diseases
