Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You are scheduled for elective coronary artery bypass surgery (not an emergency).
  • Your overall health status is ASA class 2 or 3 (generally healthy or with mild to moderate systemic disease).
  • Your heart's pumping ability is 40% or higher (ejection fraction ≥ 40%).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or less.
  • You do not have chronic lung disease (COPD, bullous lung disease) or moderate to severe pulmonary hypertension.
