New treatment for infected heart device: quick re-implant

Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed infection of your pacemaker or defibrillator.
  • Your doctor says the device must be removed.
  • You need a new device after removal.
  • You have received at least 3 days of effective antibiotics.
  • Your infection is responding to treatment, shown by negative blood cultures, lower white blood cell count, and lower CRP levels.
