Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 40 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia (a sleep disorder causing excessive daytime sleepiness and long sleep time) by a specialist.
  • Your sleep time is 11 hours or more per day, confirmed by a sleep test in the last year.
  • You are not taking certain medications that affect sleep or alertness, and you are willing to stop them for at least a month before the trial.
  • You have no major eye disease, serious mental health condition, or substance dependence.
  • You are available to follow a strict schedule of taking melatonin at night and using a light therapy device in the morning for 10 weeks.
