Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, and the surgery is expected to last at least 2 hours.
  • You do not have a fever (temperature 100.4°F or higher) or suspected infection before surgery.
  • You have not been diagnosed with schizophrenia, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, myasthenia gravis, or delirium.
  • You are not severely overweight (body mass index over 30).
