Who can take part

  • You must be between 21 and 65 years old.
  • You must be enrolled in an NIAAA natural history study.
  • You must have moderate to severe alcohol use disorder and be admitted to an alcohol treatment program.
  • Your doctor must confirm you are stable enough to give consent.
  • You cannot be taking certain medications like naltrexone, antidepressants, or benzodiazepines recently.
  • You cannot have a history of epilepsy, head injury with loss of consciousness over 30 minutes, or certain kidney problems.
