Who can take part
- You must have had a stroke caused by a blockage in a large artery in your brain (M1, M2, internal carotid, or tandem blockage).
- Your stroke symptoms must be moderate to severe (NIH Stroke Scale score higher than 5).
- You need to start treatment within 6 hours of when you were last seen normal, or within 6 to 24 hours if special imaging shows you have salvageable brain tissue.
- You must not have any nasal problem that prevents placing a cooling tube through your nose.
- You must not have a serious bleeding disorder (high INR, high PTT, or low platelets).
