Who can take part
- You are a Veteran, age 18 to 60.
- You were near a high-intensity blast (like from an IED or mortar) and felt its heat or pressure.
- You have some trouble hearing that affects your daily life (score of 20 or higher on a hearing handicap test).
- Your hearing loss is mild to moderate — you can hear most tones up to a certain level in both ears.
- You have never used a hearing aid before.
- You are a native English speaker and have no metal in your body that would prevent an MRI (you can still join parts of the study if MRI is not safe for you).
