Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You have severe to profound hearing loss in the ear(s) with the implant, which started after you learned to speak.
  • You have a cochlear implant from MED-EL with a Flex28, FlexSoft, or Standard electrode, and you wear a SONNET 2 or RONDO 3 audio processor.
  • You have used your cochlear implant for at least 6 months, and the deepest part of the implant is inserted at least 540 degrees into your cochlea.
  • You use a hearing aid in your other ear that fits well.
  • You can speak the language of the test center and agree to sign a consent form.
