Who can take part
- You have a newly diagnosed sarcoma in the retroperitoneum (the back part of your belly) that is at least 3 cm wide.
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have a good performance status (able to do daily activities) with an ECOG score of 0-1 or a Karnofsky score of 70% or higher.
- You have not had radiation therapy to the affected area before.
- You are not pregnant or nursing, and agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 120 days after treatment.
- You do not have certain sarcoma subtypes (like Ewing sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, or desmoplastic small round cell tumor) that require different standard treatment.
