Predicting heart scarring in mitral valve prolapse

Mitral Valve Prolapse

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study looks at people with mitral valve prolapse (a common heart valve condition) to see if doctors can predict who might have scar tissue in their heart muscle. If you have this condition, joining could help improve understanding of your heart health.

Who can take part

  • 18 years or older
  • Diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse (a heart valve that doesn't close tightly)
  • No other significant heart valve problems or heart muscle diseases
  • Good quality ultrasound images of your heart (echocardiogram) available
  • Able to safely have a heart MRI (no metal implants or claustrophobia)

How mitral valve bulging location affects long-term repair outcomes

This study looks back at people who had mitral valve repair surgery to see whether the exact location of a valve problem predicts long-term results. It may help doctors better predict outcomes after surgery and plan follow-up care.

Heart rhythm study for patients getting mitral valve surgery

This study looks at heart rhythm problems in people having mitral valve surgery to fix a leaky valve. It may help doctors better understand who is at risk for dangerous rhythms.

NCT04913727Recruiting
Testing heart scan predictions after mitral valve repair

This trial studies severe secondary mitral valve leaking and uses heart imaging to predict how well the heart and symptoms improve after a less-invasive valve procedure. It may help doctors better forecast who benefits most from this repair.

Studying the mitral valve with different scans before surgery

This study looks at how well CT scans and 3D echo (ultrasound) measure the mitral valve ring before surgery for severe mitral valve leakage. It may help doctors better plan valve repair.

NCT03962023Recruiting
Study of heart ultrasound features in mitral valve leakage

This study looks at how findings on a standard heart ultrasound (transthoracic echocardiography) can predict outcomes for adults with mitral valve leakage caused by valve prolapse. It may help doctors better understand which ultrasound features matter most, using past and future medical records.

Predicting outcomes after mitral valve surgery

This study looks at whether a new measurement (PALS) can better predict recovery after surgery for a leaky mitral valve. The goal is to improve how doctors plan your care.
