Mitral valve prolapse rhythm risk study

Mitral Valve ProlapseVentricular Arrhythmias and Cardiac Arrest

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study looks at people with mitral valve prolapse who also have rhythm problems like extra beats or fast heart rhythms. The goal is to better understand risk and improve care.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse (a heart valve that doesn't close tightly).
  • You have either frequent extra heartbeats (PVCs), episodes of fast heart rhythm (NSVT), or more serious rhythm problems that appeared more than a month after you started being followed.
  • You have been under medical follow-up for heart issues for more than 6 months.
  • You have not had a heart attack or untreated blockages of 50% or more in your coronary arteries.
  • You do not have other significant heart valve disease, inherited heart rhythm conditions, or scarring that might indicate myocarditis.

Mitral valve prolapse, leaking, and heart rhythm risk

This study looks at people with mitral valve prolapse and moderate-to-severe mitral regurgitation to see if they are at risk for abnormal heart rhythms. It may help doctors better understand who needs closer monitoring or treatment.

Predicting heart scarring in mitral valve prolapse

This study looks at people with mitral valve prolapse (a common heart valve condition) to see if doctors can predict who might have scar tissue in their heart muscle. If you have this condition, joining could help improve understanding of your heart health.

Myocarditis and frequent extra heartbeats study

This study looks at people who have many extra heartbeats (called PVCs) and possibly inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis). It aims to learn more about how these conditions are linked and how to better treat them.
