- You had mitral valve (mitral valve) repair surgery between 1988 and 2011
- Your mitral valve “bulging” (prolapse) was seen on an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart)
- Your medical team can review your full health information from the time of that first ultrasound
- You did not have a heart attack caused by blocked heart arteries (including certain papillary muscle injuries)
- You did not have major problems with the aortic valve, mitral valve narrowing (stenosis), or a congenital (born-with) heart condition
- You had not had prior heart surgery before this procedure
