Who can take part

  • You are 11 to 17 years old.
  • You have idiopathic scoliosis (curved spine with no known cause).
  • You are scheduled for your first spine surgery to correct scoliosis (fusion or non-fusion).
  • Your parent or guardian must agree to the study and you must agree too.
  • You have not taken opioids (strong painkillers like oxycodone) recently.
  • You can speak and read English.
