Who can take part

  • You are between 10 and 20 years old
  • You have idiopathic scoliosis (the most common type with no known cause)
  • You are scheduled for your first spinal fusion surgery (instrumented posterior fusion)
  • You are not having surgery for other types of scoliosis (like from a nerve or muscle condition)
  • You are not having a different type of spinal surgery, like growing rods or tethering
