Who can take part

  • You are between 22 and 70 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or lower.
  • You have up to two cartilage defects (grades 3 or 4) on the thighbone part of your knee joint.
  • Your knee pain score is between 20 and 65 on a standard knee pain scale.
  • Your knee is stable (no major ligament damage).
  • You have tried non-surgical treatments (like physical therapy or injections) for at least 4 months without success.
  • You are not a current smoker or nicotine user.
  • You do not have diabetes that requires insulin.
  • You are not allergic to polyurethane, bone cement, acrylic, or titanium.
  • You do not have severe arthritis (grade 3 or 4) in the affected knee.
  • You have not had any cartilage surgery on this knee in the last 6 months.
  • You have not had any knee joint injections in the last 3 months.
